OpenSSL BUG aka “HeartBleed”

Posted on April 15th, 2014

U.S. New Mexico does not use OpenSSL to secure our website and is therefore not affected by the OpenSSL “Heartbleed” bug. In addition, developers of OpenSSL have released a hotfix on 4/7/2014 to resolve any problems. As of this writing we have found no major vulnerabilities in any of our software and our vendors have notified us that they have applied the fix, if appropriate. We will keep our members informed of new developments, if any. As always, it is always wise to monitor your account information and inform us if any anomalies occur.

Financial Goals: Staying Focused and Motivated

Posted on March 27th, 2014

As your financial institution of choice, it is our mission to help our members attain personal financial success. One of the ways we do that is through Balance, the financial fitness program we partner with so you can get the financial help you deserve. Of their many resources, Balance has great articles, ranging from getting ready for college to retiring comfortably.

In an article titled Financial Goals: Staying Focused and Motivated, Balance offers techniques to help you stay on track to meet your financial goals. One of the techniques they suggest is envisioning your goal. Are you relaxing on the sands of a Caribbean beach? Are you driving down the road, taking in the smell of your brand new car? Are you seeing your child walk across the stage at graduation with a diploma in her hands?

Envision your goal, and you’re more likely to stay focused and motivated to achieve it. What does it feel like, sound like, taste like, look like? Start there, and pretty soon that beach or that new car won’t be so far off.
